Abu Dhabi Airports to Connect with City Transit
Abu Dhabi is taking a major step toward seamless and sustainable travel. Abu Dhabi Airports and Abu Dhabi Transport (ADT) have signed a new agreement aimed at directly linking the emirate’s airports with the city’s public transport systems, including buses, trains, and emerging mobility solutions.
The initiative aligns with the emirate’s broader vision to establish world-class infrastructure that balances innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. Under the agreement, Abu Dhabi Transport will provide expertise in public transport planning, operational modeling, and infrastructure design, while Abu Dhabi Airports will identify key development areas and oversee strategic land use and master planning across its portfolio. The collaboration seeks to integrate airport infrastructure with advanced public transport options to form a resilient and efficient network that supports the emirate’s growth and environmental commitments.
Abu Dhabi Transport highlighted that the project will prioritize flexibility and technological neutrality, enabling the deployment of diverse mobility systems such as light rail, bus rapid transit, automated shuttles, and Personal Rapid Transit networks. These solutions will strengthen the connection between the airports and the city’s wider transport grid, as well as improve internal movement within airport campuses.
The approach is designed to deliver the best outcomes for passengers, operators, and the environment while advancing Abu Dhabi’s ambition to become a leader in sustainable, smart mobility.
